PAC &#38;amp; Z at dekoer
&#60;img width="5712" height="4284" width_o="5712" height_o="4284" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/2f8589fbfe33bbbeae6f69e2d21b0e9f9a63805cd62651c4cfdeea4efb28f183/image00021.jpeg" data-mid="242389906" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/2f8589fbfe33bbbeae6f69e2d21b0e9f9a63805cd62651c4cfdeea4efb28f183/image00021.jpeg" /&#62;
During a&#38;nbsp;SNOBS event at Dekoer (Gent)&#38;nbsp;PAC was invited to do ‘something’.
They brought along a Cosmic Janitor (Z) plus secretary (Zeger V) to guide people trough some troubles, a sort of folk therapy sessions.&#38;nbsp;When people entered an annex building of Dekoer it led them in a square room where they could draw and write letters to the cosmic janitor.&#38;nbsp;
&#60;img width="4032" height="3024" width_o="4032" height_o="3024" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e974003bbf534c8f739813944779c4e6c852a64146dc663bfc3fd65cfd14a954/image00066.jpeg" data-mid="242414731" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e974003bbf534c8f739813944779c4e6c852a64146dc663bfc3fd65cfd14a954/image00066.jpeg" /&#62;

After navigating a tunnel system, people arrived at the office of the secretary who managed the janitor's availability. Some say he was slow and uninterested; I think he was rather zen and understanding, given his immortality.
&#60;img width="5712" height="4284" width_o="5712" height_o="4284" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/f2ed0fb808a4c9e1d936d21509c82b190d12e274ff9b9e92b072feff7cec79c6/image00048.jpeg" data-mid="242389942" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/f2ed0fb808a4c9e1d936d21509c82b190d12e274ff9b9e92b072feff7cec79c6/image00048.jpeg" /&#62;

Not many people got to meet the janitor — I didn't either — but I spoke to some who did, and they seemed rather moved and in need of digestion.

Waisting Potential
Performance at Coming-Soon Space (Antwerp)
18 April 2025&#60;img width="540" height="675" width_o="540" height_o="675" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/1c27ba002e86b0a217c875390edac24844f833ad118d8101a7cc4a1a017e7f45/IMG-20250407-WA0005.jpg" data-mid="233919000" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/540/i/1c27ba002e86b0a217c875390edac24844f833ad118d8101a7cc4a1a017e7f45/IMG-20250407-WA0005.jpg" /&#62;Waisting potential is a performance spanning 5,5 hours in which I hang from the ceiling of the pop-up space ‘coming soon’. Armed with a booklet of texts, which I wrote in the last six months of living with my parents, I tried confronting myself.&#38;nbsp;
A Britney mic, closed door, lots of windosws, set of cameras and a speaker outside set the stage for some dangling, stretching and backbending. A scriptless performance focused on just hanging in there.&#38;nbsp;
The full performance was streamed on the Coming Soon Youtube channel.&#38;nbsp;&#60;img width="972" height="533" width_o="972" height_o="533" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e727a709f9ecaa2e85b6060ba00001757fd4d6a1d5cea6f08ddeeaabd5a0dc21/Schermafbeelding-2025-05-13-003231.png" data-mid="233921109" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/972/i/e727a709f9ecaa2e85b6060ba00001757fd4d6a1d5cea6f08ddeeaabd5a0dc21/Schermafbeelding-2025-05-13-003231.png" /&#62;

Whilst rewatching this performance I noticed my outer layer as a person more than ever. That’s why I tell people who ask about the hanging that it was mainly confrontational. Where I perceived ‘me’ as a tender person who comes across a bit discombobulated, I watched a fiercer version of myself with a long neck and a head portruding horizontaly&#38;nbsp; from it’s shoulders. As if trying to get ahead all the time.

&#60;img width="2048" height="1536" width_o="2048" height_o="1536" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/9e7fc6400cf589fae9ff68a23c6566ef0da2d1f34b2c4034f24006ef3f190a8f/IMG-20250419-WA0000.jpg" data-mid="233921113" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/9e7fc6400cf589fae9ff68a23c6566ef0da2d1f34b2c4034f24006ef3f190a8f/IMG-20250419-WA0000.jpg" /&#62;

Most of my texts were written in dutch with some exeptions in English. in between readings I played the harmonica in ... (forgot which key have to wait until my dad is back and look for it) and some songs through my phone.&#38;nbsp;

A deliberate misinterpretation of the exhibitions theme: ‘fruits de mer’ led to the creation of Frites de mère

This piece was conceived on the occasion of “Salon De La Muse”, an exhibition at Aaimachine, Lieven Segers studio. Contributors where prompted with: “what does your muse look like and can you translate this to an A4-format?”
Never having thought of muses my mind drifted to iconic muses and how they have always been female, youthfull, squeeky clean and immortalized. I saw the opportunity to make a piece that would wither in time, fester, rot and stench and hoped it would be beautiful. I made a semblance of mary out a lamb chop and floorcloth. The religious symbolics of the lamb and the sexist assumption of cleaning utensils made an image exceeding my expectations.&#38;nbsp;

		<description>
Partytent Art Center (P.A.C.)

P.A.C. is a framework and experiment.

&#60;img width="2048" height="1536" width_o="2048" height_o="1536" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/670470d27c884e5ae6106c7220847c5bf75b71ed868d74e079c73ede8efa0a96/graftent-dark.jpg" data-mid="239577263" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/670470d27c884e5ae6106c7220847c5bf75b71ed868d74e079c73ede8efa0a96/graftent-dark.jpg" /&#62;
&#38;nbsp;

Partytent Art Center or, P.A.C., is an art center that stimulates experimentation in the showcasing of art in public spaces and values spontaneous interactions. The center hopes to encourage artists to take more autonomy over the presentation of their art practice and the public space.

Anyone who chooses to set up a partytent and show work in its vicinity automatically becomes the director of that Partytent Art Center. This project-based directorship aims to establish a decentralized, horizontal structure, with curating and responsibility resting with the individuals who set up the tent. The art center’s program is shaped by those who engage in this temporary role.

The center requests documentation of all presentations in the form of photos or videos. This documentation is shared on our Instagram page, which serves as an archive. P.A.C. provides a manual for creating your own partytent and encourages artists to source a tent from their local environment. Additionally, the P.A.C. has a little stock of partytents available.

What’s in it for you, why do you have to do all the work? Great question, if its not for you its not for you. We are trying to invigorate the relations between people, not just those active in the art world. This means that a little work from everyone is required and you can’t buy a house with peanuts, unless you run a peanut business. Why are the only acceptable goals when showing art: money and fame? A conversation with a stranger, someone outside your bubble, is not valuable? They might just change everything you were so certain about.

INTERVIEW:
During the graduation exhibition of KASK School of Arts, a new art center—Partytent Art Center (PAC)—was officially inaugurated on the Bijloke campus and at other locations in public spaces in Ghent. On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the co-curator of the Graduation Show, Simon Delobel, met the two artists behind the project, both alumni of the Master’s program in Fine Arts at the School of Arts.

SD: Let’s start with two simple questions. Who are you, and how did the PAC project come about?

PAC: If it’s okay, we’d actually prefer not to mention our names in the interview. This seems particularly irrelevant for the future of the center… and its past.

Our collaboration began because we ended up in different countries and missed each other. During one of our conversations, the idea arose to use titles to shed more light on things.

Later, while we were in the Hofgarten park in Düsseldorf, we wondered what would happen to the image of a public sculpture by a prominent artist like Henry Moore if we placed a party tent over it. This led us to think more about appropriating public space and how to present within it.

SD: The party tent has become the medium of your duo practice…

PAC: We saw the party tent as a kind of canvas, a space that you can fill, much like a blank canvas for a painter. The object of the party tent became a starting point for us.

Shortly after, we decided to involve other people in the concept and asked them to think about that canvas.

SD: From our very first meeting, I remember your hope that the Partytent Art Center would help young or newly graduated artists to present their work without having to wait for an invitation from a gallery or a curator. In my view, this made the PAC a project of institutional critique.

&#60;img width="4800" height="3200" width_o="4800" height_o="3200" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/55ce75e1b4624e6fd23ac28e75fa91e20b80e2c7642ab0121784257f58203cf0/IMG_9977.JPG" data-mid="239577559" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/55ce75e1b4624e6fd23ac28e75fa91e20b80e2c7642ab0121784257f58203cf0/IMG_9977.JPG" /&#62;

SD: What does the future of the PAC look like, and what role do you see yourselves playing in the story?

PAC: Through conversations with both participants and visitors, we realize that there is still much care needed for the PAC. So at the moment, we are still the caretakers of the PAC, but we are aiming on early retirement from that role.

Like a child coming of age, the PAC is a story of trial and error. We are currently handling the maintenance and communication— such as posting photos documenting past events on Instagram. The plan is for people to be able to fill out a form on the future PAC website, which will then generate a blog post.

Everything we do as a duo is in a sense connected to the PAC, because of the use of the partytent. At the moment, we are working on compiling a collection of 100 ideas for the PAC!

SD: May the PAC live a long, fruitful, and surprising life!

PAC: And let those who feel called to action put up a party tent!

Statement:
need to rewrite:My name is
Zeger Vetters, multimedia artist.

My works
mainly start from a pun, question or joke that generated an image.

In dialogue
with ‘the other’, this image soon acquires more context and accumulates a
narrative. During this dialogue process, I find it important that everything is
interchangeable. I try to keep a couple questions in my mind while I work out the rest of the story. I do not try to understand the image and it’s story so&#38;nbsp;no static final product emerges.&#38;nbsp;

The most
enjoyable video games are the ones you forgot about, and can finish from the
last save file several years later.

If it’s a
conscious decision not to let stories come to an end? Probably a combination of
the peace and restlessness in believing things are never finite. &#38;nbsp;

I have
often tried to pin down where my practice flutters. Currently I define it as
follows: 'I live for experiencing and creating stories and beauty dangles
somewhere in the wake of that. I'm basically a writer of situations that don't
need language.' But perhaps the latter is every artist? At the moment, I tend
to think in scenography.

Materials
that i like to work with are: cardboard, wood, found objects, text, auditive
elements and film.

Jacob Lambrecht on me and my work:

Zegers’ is a multifaceted practice. With one foot in collective, community based activity, and another in the
solitary simplicity of traditional media like painting and sculpture.The tension between the two makes Zeger who he is in a way, and I think it reflects a more general duality
within him as an artist.There is an immense connection with ‘culture’ and all the concepts, communities and figures that inhabit it.
This is also reflected in the way alter ego’s are used and merged with the Zeger we know. Being A museum
director in tux who is overly happy on the outside but in fact sleep deprived, a flemish dove fanatic with
an elaborate backstory rooted deeply in Flemish Folk, opening a shisha lounge decked out in love letters,...
Or even in a group exhibition I also participated in ; Smugling turkish pop hits in an exhibition room using
a model Mercedes out of cardboard as a trojan horse,... I believe all these different fragments of cultures are
exaggerated impressions of who Zeger is and how he relates to the world around him.This affinity with culture goes even further, it extends and maybe grows out of an artistic practice, and being,
based in ‘tradition’ of some sort. Zeger is very much the grandson of his grandfather, and his grandfather before that. And just like Zeger, I suspect some of these grandfathers were also fond of painting some landscapes
from time to time. Like mentioned before, the solitary, tradtional acts of painting, woodworking, and sculpting have underpinned much of his artistic activity, even tough these works are more often than not tucked
away, rarely to be seen. And so remain a solitary act, maybe just an act of sanity. The reason these works are
tucked away is simply the need to express oneself in a relevant way, tugging at the boundaries between art and
life, while he himself is being tugged between future and tradition. 2000, the turn of the millenium, Must have
been a confusing year to be born in.-

Jacob Lambrecht
