‘Eglises du monde’ is a book I made to raise questions about the fysical properties of a church. I got my hands on a book with this title while roaming around a library. It was the only book in the discarded rack. It was deemed irrelevant with a stamp reading: Afgevoerd. I decided to adobt it. In this book were pictures of churches from, you guessed it, all around the world. Why this book wasn’t popular anymore could have many explanations. might as well been replaced by an updated version, nonetheless it sparked an interest.
I scanned all pages in order to digitalize it and somehow still keeping this book alive. The urge to erase all churches arrose and so I did. leaving each paper with some shrubs, sky, people and sometimes nothing at all.
the book is accompanied by a written conversation between Bram Van Damme and me.
